Moringa — Yield

Metadata research draftEvidence limits

⚠️ Status: metadata-level draft. No yield numbers are accepted. Apply docs/methodology/units.md only after full-text review and preserve production-system context.

Moringa yield must be reported separately for:

  • fresh usable leaves (g/plant, g/m², kg/ha);
  • dried leaves or leaf powder (g/m², kg/ha), including fresh-to-dry loss;
  • edible immature pods (kg/tree, kg/ha);
  • mature dry seed (g/tree, kg/ha);
  • extracted oil (g oil/kg clean seed and extraction method);
  • residual seed cake, when relevant.

Every value remains Unknown.

  • Density × harvest interval for leaf yield — 10.1155/2017/2941432 (2017).
  • Density × harvest frequency and biomass — 10.17660/actahortic.2017.1158.12 (2017).
  • Cutting frequency × spacing — 10.17957/ijab/15.0076 (2015).
  • Eight cultivars in a dry-hot climate — 10.1016/j.indcrop.2018.10.075 (2018).
  • Growth and biomass under Northeast Mexico conditions — 10.54167/tch.v10i3.177 (2016).

These titles establish candidate comparisons, not transferable values.

Usable household yield after stripping, sorting, drying, shelling, cleaning, and pressing is Unknown/Needs experiment. Labor and processing losses must accompany any small-plot result.

  • Product-specific fields under yield in data/crops/moringa.yaml remain null until evidence is accepted.
