Chia — Sources

No source notes (S-####) are registered yet — nothing has been read or assessed. When research begins, follow docs/methodology/source-quality.md:

  1. File a source note under research/<type>/ (academic, extension, government, books, growers, youtube) using the templates in templates/.
  2. Assign a stable source id S-####.
  3. Record the full bibliographic reference, what the source claims, our quality assessment, and the assigned evidence level.
  4. Cite sources here by id.

Candidate bibliography from the 2026-08 rforge sweep

Section titled “Candidate bibliography from the 2026-08 rforge sweep”

Status: metadata-level candidates only — titles/DOIs verified in the search records (research/chia-seeds/), no full text read, nothing screened. Human screening (research/chia-seeds/queue.csv) and full-text acquisition approval come before any claim extraction. Full survey: research/chia-seeds/report.md.

Still-needed source types (from the sweep gap analysis)

Section titled “Still-needed source types (from the sweep gap analysis)”
  • Extension: regional chia production bulletins (Australia, Argentina, Egypt, Morocco, North America) — not yet searched.
  • Growers/YouTube: manual chia harvest, threshing, winnowing, and cleaning demonstrations — academic literature is nearly empty on human-scale processing; grower sources and original experiments are expected to fill this.
  • Books: grain/seed crop handbooks.
