Moringa — Irrigation

Metadata research draftEvidence limits

⚠️ Status: drafted from the metadata-level literature survey (research/moringa/report.md). Values Unknown until source notes (S-####) and full text. Water in mm or L/m² (1 mm = 1 L/m²), per units.md. Not cultivation, nutrition, or medical advice.

Drought literature ≠ irrigation schedule

Section titled “Drought literature ≠ irrigation schedule”
  • The sweep found drought-treatment literature, but most of it measures biochemical stress response, not watering practice. A practical irrigation schedule — frequency, dose per event, seasonal total (mm / L/m²) — remains Unknown.
  • Drought tolerance is commonly attributed to moringa, but attribution is not a schedule; the evidence base for scheduling is precisely the gap.
  • Household tree, orchard, and high-density leaf stand have different water budgets (canopy, cutting cycle); per-system seasonal totals Unknown.
  • Establishment (seedlings/cuttings) vs established tree: stage-specific water needs Unknown.
  • Salinity stress modulates physio-biochemical responses (candidate 10.1038/s41598-023-29954-6) — a stress-response candidate, not a production recommendation; thresholds Unknown.
  • Diluted seawater irrigation tested on germination of Moringa oleifera and Moringa peregrina (candidate 10.22587/aeb.2018.12.3.3) — germination-level evidence only, not a field water-quality rule.
  • Frost-threshold and waterlogging-tolerance evidence is weak in the retrieved metadata; both remain priority full-text/extension questions.
  • Seasonal irrigation guidance for Mexico (including frost zones) is an extension gap. The Northeast Mexico study (10.54167/tch.v10i3.177) is a growth/biomass lead, not an irrigation schedule.
  • Studies applying moringa extract to other crops are excluded; medical claims are out of scope.
  • Feeds water of data/crops/moringa.yaml: demand, seasonal_total_mm.
